What is Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World, you’ve probably heard about Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It can sound confusing at first, but it’s actually pretty simple once you know the basics. Here’s what you need to know before you head to the parks.

The Basics

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is Disney’s system that allows you to reserve access to certain attractions ahead of time, giving you shorter wait times compared to the regular standby lines. Think of it as a way to plan out part of your day and spend less time waiting and more time experiencing the magic.

How It Works

  • Book in Advance: Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can start making their Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections 7 days before check-in, for up to 14 days of their stay. Guests staying off-site can book 3 days in advance.

  • Pick Attractions: Each park has a list of eligible attractions. When you purchase the Multi Pass, you’ll choose a few rides you want to reserve in advance.

  • Day-of Selections: Once you’ve used your first set of reservations, you can keep adding more (subject to availability) throughout the day right in the My Disney Experience app.

What to Expect

  • Shorter Waits: With Lightning Lane entry, you’ll usually wait much less time than you would in the regular standby line.

  • Flexibility: You don’t have to plan your entire day around it—after you use your initial picks, you can grab more as you go.

  • Park Hopping: If you’re visiting more than one park in a day, you can book attractions across different parks (depending on availability).

Multi Pass vs. Single Pass

You may also hear about Lightning Lane Single Pass, which is separate from Multi Pass. Single Pass is used for the most popular rides (like TRON Lightcycle / Run or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance). Those attractions aren’t included with Multi Pass and require a separate purchase if you want Lightning Lane access.

Is It Worth It?

For many guests, yes! If riding popular attractions with shorter waits is important to you, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a huge time-saver. It’s especially helpful during busy times of year when standby lines are longest..
