The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a little salon in Fantasyland that offers "Magical Makeovers" with Fairy Godmothers in Training to kids ages 3-12 years old. It is definitely a "splurge" experience, like doing character dining or similar, so if it's something you are interested in doing, maybe plan to budget it into your trip ahead of time.
Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, just like dining reservations. Any "no show" reservation that isn't cancelled 24 hours beforehand will be charged a $10 fee per person on the reservation.
Things to Note:
Theme park admission IS required for this service, as is a reservation to Disneyland Park on the day of your service. Salon services begin first thing in the morning, and there are reservations available for booking up until around 6pm at night, so if California Adventure Park is your starting park on the day of your reservation, just plan to book an afternoon slot (after 11AM), and make sure you have a Park Hopper ticket.
My personal recommendation is to do it on a Disneyland Park day and get a slot as early in the morning as you can. This is both because that way your kids can enjoy their makeovers and feel fancy all day in the parks, and also because the boutique times can get a bit backed up and the further in the day it gets, the more likely you'll end up waiting past your reservation time to get into your appointment.
Depending on which package you select, makeovers can take anywhere from 30 minutes up to an hour or so. When we did it with our daughters, we chose the most basic package, which was hair and nails, some glitter in their hair, makeup and little gems for their cheeks, a sash, etc. To my understanding, all of the "makeover" portions are similar no matter which package you select, but more expensive packages include a portrait session and a fancier dress, more accessories, etc.

Read below for my opinions and experience with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique:
We took our girls, ages 4 and 8 at the time, for a morning appointment at the Boutique and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We booked a time around 9:00–9:30 a.m., which worked well since we could rope drop a couple of rides, grab breakfast, and then head over. We didn’t tell the girls ahead of time, so surprising them when we arrived made it even more fun.
Before our trip, I ordered dresses online for about $20–30 each so we could skip the more expensive gowns in the shop. We picked the most basic “Carriage” package, which gave the girls the full makeover experience without adding a lot of extras. After check-in, their Fairy Godmothers in Training helped them change into their dresses and get set up in the salon chairs for their hair and makeup.
The girls really enjoyed it. Even my daughter who’s usually more into villains than princesses was all in and loved the attention she got from Cast Members and guests throughout the park in her dress and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique sash. Some packages include a walk-up visit to Royal Hall to meet the princesses, but ours didn’t. We waited in the regular line instead, which only took about 20 minutes and worked out fine.
Looking back, it’s definitely something I would book again. My kids still talk about it and remember how much fun it was. One tip: even after your appointment, you can redo their hair and let them wear the sashes again on other park days. Cast Members often notice and interact with kids wearing them, which makes it feel like the experience lasts a little longer.
If the Boutique isn’t in the budget, you can still do a version of it yourself—get them dressed up at the hotel, do their hair, and head to the park. You can also stop by the Boutique for a free “fairy dusting,” where a Fairy Godmother in Training will sprinkle glitter on their hair. It’s quick, easy, and still a lot of fun.
